4. Health & Allergen Disclaimer
4.1 General Health Disclaimer
Tucki provides general educational content and behaviour-change tools only. We are not medical professionals, and the information within the Service should not be treated as medical advice or as a substitute for professional consultation.
You should always consult your GP, a registered dietitian, or another suitably qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your or your family's diet, particularly if you, a member of your household, or your children have an underlying health condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking medication, or have a history of disordered eating.
4.2 Allergens
Tucki uses third-party nutritional databases and AI-driven estimation to suggest recipes, meals, and ingredients. While we make reasonable efforts to surface relevant allergen information where it is available to us, we cannot guarantee that allergen data within the Service is complete, accurate, or up to date.
Allergen information on packaged food, including the requirements introduced by the Food Information (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2019 ("Natasha's Law"), is the responsibility of the food producer or retailer. You must always:
- Check the actual product packaging and ingredients list before consuming any food
- Verify allergen information directly with the manufacturer or retailer where you are unsure
- Take particular care for any household member with a known or suspected allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any allergic reaction, intolerance response, or other adverse effect arising from reliance on allergen information presented within the Service. You use the Service at your own risk in this respect.
5. Appropriate Use
You agree to use the Service responsibly and in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws. You may not:
- Misuse, hack, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service
- Reproduce, distribute, modify, or resell any part of the Service without our written permission
- Upload or share inappropriate, defamatory, misleading, infringing, or unlawful content
- Use the Service to provide medical, dietary, or commercial advice to others
- Use the Service in a manner that disrupts or harms other users
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with or without notice, where appropriate.
6. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the Service, including the Tucki brand name, the Tucki AI assistant, app design, recipes, educational guides, videos, characters, written and visual content, are owned by or licensed to The GFF Co. Ltd.
You may share screenshots or short clips of your own progress on social media for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided you do not defame, misrepresent, or vilify the Tucki brand.
Any other use, copying, distribution, or adaptation of our content requires our prior written consent.
7. User-Generated Content
You may upload, create, or submit content within the Service, including meal logs, notes, photos, and progress entries ("User Content").
You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content to the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, modify, publish, and use that User Content for the purposes of operating, providing, improving, and promoting the Service.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have all necessary rights in any User Content you submit
- Your User Content does not infringe the rights of any third party
- Your User Content complies with these Terms and applicable law
We reserve the right to remove or restrict access to any User Content at our discretion, particularly where it breaches these Terms or is reported as inappropriate.
8. Data Protection & Security
We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We use anonymisation, encryption, and secure authentication via AWS Cognito and JWT-based authorisation. Your data is hosted primarily within the AWS EU (eu-west-1) region. Where international transfers occur, we use the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or equivalent safeguards.
We do not sell user data. For details on how we handle and protect personal data, including how we handle children's data and our compliance with the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code, please see our Privacy Policy.
9. How We Calculate Nutrition and Log Meals
Tucki combines verified nutritional datasets, behavioural science, and AI-driven estimation to give users clear, practical insights into their daily eating habits. Our approach balances scientific accuracy with real-world usability, helping families make informed choices without stress or judgement.
9.1 Data Sources
Tucki uses two trusted, evidence-based datasets as its nutritional backbone:
- McCance and Widdowson's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (COFID) for fresh and natural whole foods
- Open Food Facts for packaged and branded food products
These databases provide nutrient composition per 100 g and are continually updated to reflect current UK and EU food standards.
9.2 AI Estimation and Portion Logic
Where exact matches are unavailable, Tucki's AI model:
- Estimates values using closely related food items
- Adjusts for portion size, preparation method, and cooking losses
- Allocates ingredient proportions in mixed meals
- Learns from user patterns such as typical portion sizes to improve accuracy over time
All results are estimates based on best-available data and user inputs. Actual values may vary depending on brand, cooking method, and serving size.
9.3 Continuous Refinement
Tucki's system constantly refines its estimates as new verified data becomes available. Where possible, it prioritises data that reflects UK dietary guidelines and commonly consumed products. Where data is missing, conservative assumptions are used to maintain safety and nutritional realism.
9.4 Purpose and Limitations
Tucki's nutrition and meal-logging features are designed to increase awareness and promote positive, sustainable eating habits. They are not designed to diagnose, treat, or prescribe dietary interventions. The information provided should always be interpreted as educational guidance, not clinical advice.
10. AI-Generated Content
Parts of the Service rely on artificial intelligence to generate recommendations, suggestions, meal ideas, and other content. While we work hard to make these outputs useful and accurate, AI-generated content can sometimes be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. You should:
- Treat AI-generated content as a helpful starting point, not as a definitive answer
- Use your own judgement, and that of qualified professionals where relevant
- Cross-check important information, particularly anything relating to health, allergens, or the wellbeing of children
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for losses arising from your reliance on AI-generated content within the Service.
11. Scientific References & Content Philosophy
Tucki's educational guides are grounded in evidence-based nutrition science and behavioural research.
We take a curious and balanced approach, drawing from emerging theories, trusted sources, and consensus among respected scientific and public-health institutions.
Our philosophy prioritises:
- Encouraging people to eat real food first
- Helping families find what they actually enjoy
- Gradually optimising diets towards UK recommended nutritional guidelines
While extensive research and behavioural science underpin our backend systems, the cues, interactions, and visualisations you see are designed to make healthy eating simple, enjoyable, and stress-free.
A full list of scientific references is available in the in-app bibliography.
12. Data Security
We apply strong security measures to protect user data. If a personal data breach likely to affect your rights and freedoms occurs, we will notify affected users and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) within 72 hours as required by law.

- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms in respect of your use of the Service via the Apple App Store, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
14. Google Play Store Additional Terms
If you access the Service via the Google Play Store, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. To the extent of any conflict between these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service in respect of your installation and use of the App via Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service prevail in that respect only.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The Service and its content are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service
- Our total aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period will not exceed the total amount you paid us for the Service in that period
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms or misuse the Service.
You may delete your account at any time using the in-app option or through your app-store account settings. Termination does not entitle you to any refund of subscription fees already paid, except where required by law or by the applicable app-store refund policy.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends. We will handle your personal data in line with the retention provisions of our Privacy Policy.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you in-app or by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect, where reasonably practicable.
Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and may cancel your subscription.
18. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You may have additional rights under the laws of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you reside there.
Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
19. General Provisions
19.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in respect of the Service, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
19.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
19.3 No Waiver
A failure or delay by us to enforce any right under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
19.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or by operation of law.
19.5 Force Majeure
We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, pandemic, labour disputes, internet outages, or third-party service failures.
19.6 Third-Party Rights
Except as set out in Section 13 (Apple App Store Additional Terms), no person other than you and us has any right to enforce any term of these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
